Beautify The Bookcase! Fall 24' One Room Challenge

ORC - Week 6

Since this is an office makeover, it makes sense to have efficient storage for all things office. So, today I'm styling my bookcase. The bookcase will be the work horse of the office, housing product samples, books, magazines, extra supplies, client files, all while having to look pretty too. My bookcase actually started out as 3 separated units. After measuring, I realized I could fit the 3 pieces together like a puzzle.

The great thing about combining the 3 units, it freed up floorspace & positioned everything to one wall.

I did L-bracket the top 2 units to the wall, to prevent toppling under the weight of items that would be housed there.

Work In Progress:

The units are from Ikea. I previously dressed up

the bottom unit by adding some lovely gold feet.

Pizzazz It Up

After the new configurated unit was completed, it looked like a big white box waiting for some pizzazz to happen. Using some of my leftover wallpaper was the answer. I simply did the same application to the back of the bookcase as I had applied to my wall. The outcome was superb!

After sorting through supplies & decor pieces, it was time to style my bookcase not one just brimming with decor pieces but a functioning working bookcase.

I have always been a fan of Interior Design Magazines with my oldest edition from AD circa 1968 (much older than me😂). Over the years, I've grown a collection from AD, Veranda, Traditional Home, Southern Accents & Florida Design (I lived in Jacksonville for years). So, it was a must that I incorporate them into the bookcase's landscape. I started with my storage pieces, magazines & books while adding meaningful decorative pieces along the way. Incorporating function, storage, and beautiful aesthetics was the winning combination.

There was enough space at the top of the bookcase to added some of my favorite decor pieces & books I used when I was in design school. After some editing, I found the right balance for my bookcase. As an added bonus, I used more leftover pieces of wallpaper as tabs on all my storage boxes & magazines holders. Yes, I know it's a bit extra, but it's my office, my terms LOL!
